Balboa Wreck

George Town Harbour, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

A 114 m freighter sunk by a hurricane in 1932 in George Town Harbor, Grand Cayman. The wreck lies broken up in 10-12 m of water, with debris scattered on a sandy bottom. Originally dynamited to clear the harbor; remaining sections include the boiler, engine block, and ribs. Observed species include tarpon, schooling grunts, sergeant majors, and reef fish. Shore-accessible; night-dive destination. Suitable for Open Water divers.
