Cars
Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines
The Cars is a small artificial reef off Dauin built from the chassis of two cars resting on sand at roughly 24 to 29 metres. The metal frames have gathered a surprising amount of life, with groups of snappers, angelfish, lionfish and sweetlips hanging around the wrecks and crustaceans sheltering inside the structures. The real draw, though, is the macro on the sandy slope leading down to them, where patient divers turn up juvenile frogfish, ornate and robust ghost pipefish, sand divers, dragonets and flamboyant cuttlefish. Easy depth and gentle conditions make it a relaxed muck and macro dive for photographers.
