Chowder Bay

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

A Sydney Harbour cove on the north shore with a sheltered old naval pier. Pilings covered in sponges, ascidians, and soft corals; seahorses (White's seahorse), octopus, pygmy pipehorse, and dense cuttlefish populations. Shallow (max 10 m around the jetty), easy entry, and protected from ocean swell. The piles themselves are the dive — not a reef site.
