Anacapa Island, Channel Islands, California, United States
Coral Reef on Anacapa is a kelp-forest reef site named for purple hydrocoral (Stylaster californicus) colonies rather than tropical coral, in 8-22 metres. California hydrocoral grows in deeper cooler water and is slow to recover from impacts; the site is inside the Anacapa State Marine Reserve.
