Daedalus Reef (North Plateau)

Daedalus Reef, Red Sea, Egypt

An offshore reef complex also known as Abu Kizan, within a marine protected zone approximately 80 km east of Marsa Alam. Liveaboard-only access. The North Plateau is the primary hammerhead dive in the Red Sea with large schools of scalloped hammerheads (Sphyrna lewini) in summer months. Thresher sharks (Alopias spp.) are seasonal in autumn-winter. Strong currents and open-ocean conditions; Advanced Open Water certification required.
