Galápagos Islands

Devil's Crown (Corona del Diablo)

Floreana Island, Galápagos Islands, Ecuador

A volcanic crater rim breaking the surface north of Floreana — one of the Galápagos' most photogenic shallow dives. Depths 5-25 m around the crater both inside (sheltered) and outside (wall and pinnacles). Resident sea lions, hammerheads in the deeper blue, schooling barracuda, and exceptional shallow coral. Currents can be strong on the outer wall; intermediate-plus.
