Gemanafushi, Gaafu Alif Atoll

Where the wall meets open water, currents deliver nutrients and attract marine life. Branching acropora thickets provide shelter for clouds of juvenile reef fish. Moorish idols move in pairs along the reef crest, picking at the substrate. Grey reef shark is present throughout much of the year.
