King Island

King Island, Tasmania

The kelp forests, while diminished from historic extent, remain impressive where they persist, with bull kelp fronds reaching toward the surface from holdfasts anchored to granite boulders. Southern rock lobster thread through gaps in the structure while blue-throated wrasse hover nearby and weedy seadragon circle at depth.
