Lake Alan Henry is a City of Lubbock reservoir on the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River. The John T. Montford Dam formed it in 1993. Divers launch from the Sam Wahl Recreation Area ramp. The pin marks that ramp. Named coves such as Ronnie's Cove and Black Pearl Cove are reached only by boat. Ronnie's Cove is known for better visibility than the rest of the lake. The lake reaches about 100 ft (30 m). A 5 mm or 7 mm wetsuit or a drysuit is advised below the thermocline. Bass, crappie, perch and catfish live here. Spearfishing needs a Texas fishing licence and is limited to non-game fish. The ramp charges a fee.
