Mainit Hot Springs Drift
Dauin, Negros Oriental, Philippines
A lively one-way drift on Negros' Dauin coast, usually run in the strong current that defines the site. The bottom is black volcanic sand broken by patches of hard and soft coral, with a prolific, varied fish community along the way. The dive finishes over a patch of yellow, sulphur-rich sand that is noticeably warm to the touch — the hot ground that gives the site its name (mainit means 'hot' in Visayan). Boat entry; best suited to divers comfortable with current.
