Roy Rufus Artificial Reef
Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia
A large artificial reef in Hervey Bay off the eastern side of Big Woody Island, formed from sunken structure now grown over with soft and hard coral. It spreads across several marked points reached by boat from Urangan. Wobbegongs, batfish, gropers, trevally, and schooling baitfish are regular. Tidal currents and changeable visibility reward timing the dive well.
