The world's strongest tidal current, located near Bodø in northern Norway. Up to 26 knots of current cycles every 6 hours, driving 3,000+ m³/second of water through a 3-km strait between Saltstraumen and Knaplundsøya islands. Diving is possible only in the ~1-hour window around slack tide. Depths to 30 m. Observed species include wolf fish, large cod, halibut, colorful anemones, and dense kelp forests. Advanced Open Water certification required with drift and cold-water experience.
