Secca delle Fumose (Baia)

Pozzuoli, Bay of Naples, Italy

An active volcanic seabed feature in the Baia Archaeological Park — named for the continuous streams of sulfuric gas bubbles ('fumose') that rise through the sand, creating a natural underwater 'jacuzzi.' Depths 8-12 m on sand with Roman archaeological remains interspersed with the fumaroles. One of the most unusual dives in the Mediterranean; Open Water + briefing on volcanic-gas safety.
