Sombrero
Guanacaste, Costa Rica
At 29 meters, this spur-and-groove reef features gorgonian fans covering spur-and-groove channels, building layered structure across the bottom. The grooves funnel sand and current between coral ridges, creating distinct microhabitats along each spur. Spotted eagle ray and moray eel cruise through the reef, joined by striped marlin foraging along the periphery of the site.
