USS Susan B. Anthony

Calvados, Normandy

A 150 m American troop transport liner struck by a mine and sunk in 1944 during the D-Day landings — no troops lost thanks to a full evacuation. The wreck lies in two pieces at 26-30 m depth, 7.5 miles north of Port-en-Bessin in the Baie de Seine. The bow section remains in excellent condition with teak decking and intact portholes along the hull. Cold water (12-16°C); drysuit recommended; Advanced certification. Part of the 150+ WWII wrecks off the Normandy landing beaches.
