A coral reef off Makena, South Maui, named for large schools of bluestripe snapper (ta'ape, Lutjanus kasmira). Depth 25-34 m; lava-rock and coral slope. Hawaiian green turtles, white-tip reef sharks in overhangs, macro critters. Boat entry; current light.
