The Gutter
Shell Cove, New South Wales
The gutter descends into a deep amphitheatre ringed by boulder walls draped in colourful sponges and kelp. Macro photographers find rich pickings on the sponge-encrusted walls, where nudibranchs and decorator crabs abound. Weedy seadragon wedge into coral gaps, blue devilfish pick through rubble zones, and grey nurse shark command the open water above.
