USS Saratoga (CV-3)
Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands
A 268 m Lexington-class aircraft carrier sunk during Operation Crossroads Test Baker on 25 July 1946 — the world's only divable aircraft-carrier wreck and the signature Bikini Atoll dive. The carrier sits upright on the Bikini lagoon floor at 52 m (keel), with the flight deck at ~27 m and the top of the bridge at ~12 m. Hellcat and Avenger aircraft remain in the hangar decks. Access is tightly controlled — US DOE permit + technical deep/trimix training required. Bikini is a UNESCO World Heritage site (2010). Historical radiation on the wreck is now negligible but fallout in the lagoon sediment remains monitored.
