Valhalla is a decommissioned Atlas-F missile silo, site 578-9, near Tuscola south of Abilene. It is privately owned. Dive clubs and shops book it for group trips. It is not open to the public. Divers carry gear down about 75 stairs to a floating platform. The silo is an overhead environment with no open sky above. A structure blocks one side between 30 and 60 ft. Metal debris lies from 105 to 130 ft (32 to 40 m). The water is about 15.5°C all year. Bring a primary and a backup light. The nearest hospital is in Abilene.
