Acropora robusta
Acropora robusta is a coral species that forms irregular colonies with thick branches at the center and thinner ones at the periphery. Its radial corallites vary in shape and size, giving it a distinctive rasp-like appearance. The coral can display a range of colors, including pink, yellow-brown, cream, or bright green, often with pinkish tips on the branches. This species is typically found in tropical shallow reefs, particularly along reef margins that are exposed to strong wave action. Acropora robusta is distributed across a wide region, including the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean, Indo-Pacific, Australia, Southeast Asia, Japan, and the Pacific Ocean. It inhabits depths ranging from 1 to 8 meters, thriving in environments where wave action is prominent. Divers encountering this coral can appreciate its unique structure and colors, but should be mindful of its ecological sensitivity.
