Cycloseris mokai

Cycloseris mokai is a coral species belonging to the family Fungiidae and is part of the order Scleractinia. This reef-associated coral is found in the tropical waters of the Western Central Pacific. Divers can encounter it at depths ranging from the surface down to 30 meters. The life cycle of Cycloseris mokai begins with gametes being released into the water column, where fertilization occurs. The resulting zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva, which eventually settles on the ocean floor. This process involves the early development of tentacles, septa, and a pharynx before the larva settles. This species, like others in the class Anthozoa, can be either gonochoric or hermaphroditic. Cycloseris mokai is listed as 'Least Concern' on the IUCN Red List. Divers exploring suitable habitats may find this coral on reef flats, reef slopes, and other similar environments. While its diet is not specifically detailed, corals typically engage in filter-feeding, capturing plankton and other small particles from the water.
