Dendrilla rosea

Dendrilla rosea is a sponge belonging to the family Darwinellidae, found predominantly in the Indo-West Pacific region, including Indonesia, New Caledonia, and Australia. This species inhabits tropical waters and is typically found at depths ranging from 0 to 100 meters. Dendrilla rosea is a member of the class Demospongiae, which are known to be hermaphroditic. The life cycle of this species involves the development of a zygote into a free-swimming parenchymella larva, which eventually settles on a substrate and grows into a mature sponge. This reproductive strategy allows it to colonize suitable habitats effectively. Divers encountering this species may find it attached to various substrates within its depth range, contributing to the biodiversity of the reef environment. Its conservation status has not been evaluated by the IUCN, and there are no known threats to humans.
