Heliofungia fralinae
Heliofungia fralinae is a coral species belonging to the family Fungiidae within the order Scleractinia. It is associated with reef environments in the Western Central Pacific. This coral can be found at depths ranging from the surface to 30 meters, typically within tropical waters between latitudes 22°N and 12°S and longitudes 95°E to 154°E. Divers may encounter this coral in various reef habitats. Heliofungia fralinae is part of the class Anthozoa, which includes species that are either gonochoric or hermaphroditic. The coral's reproductive process involves mature gametes being released into the coelenteron and then spawned through the mouth. The resulting zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva, which undergoes metamorphosis, forming tentacles, septa, and a pharynx before settling on the aboral end. According to the IUCN Red List, Heliofungia fralinae is currently classified as Least Concern, and its international trade is monitored under CITES Appendix II.
