Speleogobius trigloides

The Grotto Goby is a small species of goby found in the subtropical waters of the Mediterranean Sea. It is known for inhabiting grottoes and caves, preferring dark and sheltered environments. Divers can spot this species at depths ranging from 8 to 25 meters. The Grotto Goby reaches a maximum length of 1.8 centimeters, making it a tiny inhabitant of its preferred habitats. This goby is primarily benthic, meaning it lives on the bottom of its marine environment. The Grotto Goby has been recorded at several locations in the Mediterranean, including the Adriatic islands of Krk, Prvic, and Hvar. Its conservation status is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
