Tigrigobius dilepis
The Orangesided Goby is a small reef-associated fish found in the Western Atlantic, particularly around the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, the Lesser Antilles, and the islands off Belize. Divers can encounter this species at depths ranging from 5 to 30 meters. It inhabits coral formations surrounded by white sand and is often seen alone or in pairs on small coral heads, sponges, and rocky substrates. This goby is known to inhabit tropical waters, where it is a harmless presence for divers. For divers, encountering the Orangesided Goby can be a subtle experience, as these fish are relatively small, reaching a maximum length of only 2.5 cm. They are listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. Observing them requires a keen eye and attention to the smaller details of the reef environment.
