Biorock Coral Restoration Site

Gili Islands, Lombok, Indonesia

The Gili Trawangan Biorock project — one of the world's largest coral-restoration installations — spans over 120 steel structures on the island's east side, each carrying a low-voltage current that accelerates coral accretion. The structures now host thriving reef communities including turtles, cuttlefish, octopus, and juvenile reef fish, and the whole field sits in accessible 2–18 m depths. Shallow enough for Open Water divers, well-marked, and a dedicated night-dive favourite.
