Black Rock

Aitutaki, Cook Islands

On Aitutaki's northwestern outer reef, where dark volcanic substrate contrasts sharply with vibrant coral growth. A sunken barge adds structural variety, its hull plates hosting encrusting coral and providing shelter for groupers. Green sea turtle emerge from the substrate, spotted eagle ray school above the reef flat, and bicolor parrotfish track prey along the wall.
