North Park, Canyon Lake
Canyon Lake, Comal County, Texas, United States
Canyon Lake's main training site, with three platforms and guide lines to sunken boats, trucks and motorcycles. Deeper water drops past 25 m below a sharp thermocline.
North Park is a US Army Corps of Engineers park on the north shore of Canyon Lake, near the dam. It is the lake's most used training site. In 2026 the Corps turned it into a free day-use park, open daily from 8 am to sunset. The old weekend camping rule no longer applies. A steep rocky path leads down to the water. Three training platforms sit in the shallows, with guide lines to sunken boats, pickup trucks and motorcycles. Past a low bluff with cars at its base, the bottom flattens and then slopes steeply into standing timber. Divers have logged 96 ft (29 m). A sharp thermocline drops the temperature to about 10 to 13°C. Visibility falls below it. Expect bass, crappie, catfish, gar and turtles. Fly a dive flag for boat traffic. Carry a knife for fishing line.
