The lower Comal runs from below the Tube Chute to its meeting with the Guadalupe River. Divers put in under the Garden Street bridge and drift two bends to the Last Public Exit on South Union Avenue. The pin marks that exit. The current here is faster than on the upper river. The bends hold slightly deeper water. The spring-fed water stays near 22°C. Do not drift past the last exit. The Guadalupe below has dams that are dangerous at high release. Tubers crowd the exit in summer. Fallen trees have closed this stretch in the past. The city closes the river when flow reaches 600 cfs. Check access at the Garden Street put-in before you go. One listing describes private property along that bank.
