Carless Reef
Hurghada, Red Sea, Egypt
Two coral pinnacles rising from 20 m to just below the surface in open water ~1 hour north of Hurghada. The pinnacles are densely encrusted in soft coral and populated by moray eels, anemonefish in the shallows, and stonefish on the sand patches. Strong currents swirl around the towers, drawing in schooling barracuda, trevally, and the occasional reef shark. Turtles are regular. Advanced certification recommended; exposed to wind and current.
