Gamul Kebir
Safaga, Red Sea, Egypt
A large offshore reef ~45 minutes from Safaga — a wide plateau at 10-20 m surrounded by steep walls dropping past 40 m, dived as a drift along whichever face the current is running. Dense soft-coral table corals on the plateau, gorgonian fans on the wall. Regular encounters with barracuda schools, Napoleon wrasse, eagle rays, and whitetip reef sharks. Often combined with Panorama Reef or the Tobia cluster for a full Safaga day trip. Advanced certification recommended; currents can be brisk.
