NSW DPI artificial reef installed October 2017 off Royal National Park: 18 hollow 25-tonne concrete pyramid modules (4 m square, 5-9 m high) in five well-separated groups on sand at 28-29 m (nearly 31 m inside modules), now covered in growth and small fish. Depth 28 to 31 m.
NSW DPI artificial reef installed October 2017 off Royal National Park: 18 hollow 25-tonne concrete pyramid modules (4 m square, 5-9 m high) in five well-separated groups on sand at 28-29 m (nearly 31 m inside modules), now covered in growth and small fish. Depths run from 28 to 31 m. Access: rocky shore or day boat. Hazards noted: deep (28-31 m) - limited bottom time, nitrox useful; modules widely separated (~50 m between groups) - easy to lose them in poor vis; established for fishing - avoid when fishers present. Marine life recorded on the dive: Mado, Yellowtail, Flathead, Crabs, Crayfish, Nudibranchs, Jewel anemones, Small sponges, Kelp, Small rays, Boarfish, Blind shark.
