Mansfield Dam Park
Austin, Travis County, Texas, United States
Travis County's underwater dive park beside Mansfield Dam, with four platforms and guide lines to boats, a camper and a small aircraft. Water near the dam runs past 50 m.
Mansfield Dam Park is a Travis County park on Lake Travis, next to the dam. The county lists it as an underwater dive park. A roped scuba area holds four platforms at different depths. Guide lines and a compass course lead to sunken boats, a camper and a small aircraft. Remains of the dam's construction plant also lie on the bottom. Depth comes quickly. About 90 ft (27 m) is reachable inside the roped area at low lake levels. Water near the dam goes past 180 ft (55 m). Below about 11 m it gets dark. The water under the thermocline is about 12 to 13°C. The four-lane ramp next door is the busiest on the lake. Stay in the roped area and carry a surface marker. Zebra mussels are sharp. Entry is $5 per person, cash only. The park is open daily from sunrise to civil twilight.
