Mermaid's Channel Entrance

The entrance to the main channel through Mermaid Reef — a narrow pass carved through the atoll rim where outgoing tides create a drift through the channel into the blue. Depths 5-30 m with strong current bringing grey reef sharks, trevally, and schooling snapper to the pass. Part of the 527 km² Mermaid Reef Marine Park; liveaboard-only; Advanced certification required for drift conditions.
