Shaab Abu Nuhas

Shadwan Island, Red Sea, Egypt

The 'Father of Bad Luck' — a treacherous ship-killer reef at the north end of the Straits of Gubal, located right on the main shipping channel from Suez. Four famous wrecks rest around the reef's northwest face: Giannis D (lentil wreck), Carnatic (1869, the oldest), Chrisoula K (tile wreck), and Kimon M. Each can be dived as a distinct site; most operators run a 2-dive circuit hitting two of the four. Advanced certification essential; currents and depth vary by wreck.
