Shaab Umm Qamar
Hurghada, Red Sea, Egypt
A long inshore reef ~20 minutes from Hurghada marine — popular as a sheltered second dive after a morning offshore trip. The reef runs parallel to the coast with a shallow plateau at 5-15 m sloping to a sandy drop-off at 22 m. Typically mild current, making it a favourite for refresher dives and new Open Water divers. Resident schools of goatfish, fusiliers, and large pufferfish; the sand flats hold bluespotted rays and occasional turtles. Distinct from the open-water Umm Gamar Island ~15 km further north.
