The Chimney

Batemans Bay, New South Wales

The passage is narrow enough to feel enclosed but wide enough for comfortable single-file descent, with the walls covered in encrusting sponges, jewel anemones, and colonial ascidians. Resident weedy seadragon and Port Jackson shark occupy the reef, with yellowtail kingfish passing through regularly.
