Olo

Apo Island, Negros Oriental, Philippines

A quieter reef on the northeast side of Apo Island, away from the better-known walls of the west and south. Olo is a coral reef and gentle slope that rewards a slow, attentive dive: sea snakes work the bottom, nudibranchs and frogfish hide among the corals, and turtles graze the reef alongside the usual busy community of small reef fish. As part of the long-protected Apo Island Marine Reserve, it is dived under the island's sanctuary rules (no gloves, no collecting, guided diving).
