Outer Pinnacles

Carmel Pinnacles State Marine Reserve, Carmel Bay, California, United States

A granite pinnacle in the Carmel Pinnacles State Marine Reserve, about a mile south of Sunset Point between the Inner Pinnacles and Horseshoe sites. Boulder stacks smothered in strawberry anemones and pink-and-orange California hydrocoral rise from roughly 100 feet to a 45-foot crown, with kelp-lined granite channels, wolf eels, rockfish and lingcod. A no-take reserve reached only by boat.
