Roundhouse Reef
Otago, South Island
Roundhouse Reef stretches across the seafloor southwest of Brighton, forming a series of flat-topped ledges that step down to deeper walls. The reef's topography creates numerous swim-throughs and overhangs where rock lobster and common octopus shelter from. Scarlet wrasse glide over the substrate, blue cod tuck into recesses, and leatherjacket aggregate near the crest.
