Takat Malang
Gili Air, Gili Islands, Indonesia
Takat Malang ("unlucky reef") sits off the north of Gili Air as a cluster of large coral bommies on a sloping sandy bed — a plateau at 15 m drops to a maximum around 40 m, with the average dive around 25 m. The sand around the bommies hides blue-spotted stingrays and garden eels, while the coral heads themselves support dense reef-fish schools, moray eels, and occasional pelagic passes on the incoming tide.
