Cornish Head

Otago, South Island

The sheltered western face offers gentler conditions with a sloping reef of boulders and kelp from five to fifteen metres. Scarlet wrasse prefer the deeper eastern walls. The formation draws butterfish and eagle ray to its sheltered side, with Hector's dolphin frequenting the exposed face.
