Red Barn Reef

Otago, South Island

Each ledge step creates overhangs that harbour rock lobster and provide shade for sea perch. Red Barn Reef runs parallel to the Otago coast between Karitane and Warrington, presenting a series of stepped ledges from eight to twenty metres depth. Banded wrasse and marblefish inhabit the reef structure, with trumpeter patrolling deeper water.
